Let’s talk lingerie – don’t be shy!
Show off in richly decorative pieces. Lingerie sets are enriched with jacquards, satin embroideries, metallic foiled laces or appliqués with scrolling motifs. Decadent textures maximise this classically luxurious look. Velvet is also forced into the spotlight, seen with mesh or lace inserts to create graphic shapes and play with opaque and sheer blocking.
Talking sheer, lightweight smooth patterned sheers are popular with straight edge finishes in retro, soft silhouettes. Keep it new with patterns of graphic interest.

This season, the high-neck, choker-inspired silhouette synonymous with bondage is introduced. Now a key fashion look, updated choker versions move away from lace iterations and more towards architectural, clean-cut styles.
When it comes to colour, blush, cassis, teal and petrol are top picks. Blush becomes the new skin tone (enhanced with soft lace or subverted with a black trim), whilst the Bordeaux colour stories of last winter move into a darker shade of blackcurrant. Dusky in tone, petrol and teal look newest when admired on crushed velvets and satins that heighten the lustrous quality of these rich looks.
Sports influences are obvious with elastic waistbands, mesh inserts and a subtle sports feel to underwear shapes (including cheeky cut briefs, sheer bandeaus and cutout bodies). The impact of athleisure is felt within the larger lingerie sector, taking on a softer sensibility for SS17. Cover up with a sporty tank top; Fila on EyeFitU provides the ultimate in throwback loungewear.

For lounge and sleepwear, pieces such as cropped pyjama pants and camisoles make the crossover from bed to beach. Continue the versatility with printed silk and short kimonos that can also be worn as eveningwear.
Choose vibrant yellow as the rich sunshine shade to be seen in. Embroidered flowers or lace on lightly structured, romantic styles look fresh and youthful in tone. For men, Gant on EyeFitU offer boxers in the sunniest shade. Elsewhere, nude tones continue to provide a versatile base. Black embroideries atop of nude sheers lend a tattoo effect on the body, whilst delicate lace overlays on fine skin-toned mesh bring a lightweight look to bridal pieces. If you prefer warmth, reddish tinted nudes bring a sunbaked look that move lingerie collections towards an earthy, natural aesthetic.
Experiment with cap sleeve details too. The season’s prevalent detail is seen on both bras and nightwear, created with fluttering lace and ruffled tulle – peeping out beneath layers.
Continuing to be explored into the warmer season, both designer and fashion brands are playful with placements and motifs. Glossy flower motifs are embroidered onto fine stretch crepe de chine to create a decorative faux balconette effect with modesty coming courtesy of a playful swan design.
Looking ahead, the key items within the intimates category range from the sports luxe banded brief to the luxury cutout bra. The bralette is also a must-have item. Go casual with monochrome styles from ASOS via EyeFitU. More intricate bralettes are also on trend, combining pretty lace and delicate colouring.

On the one hand, high-waisted fashion knickers embrace standout colour, form and fabric, yet in contrast, the barely there hipster sits unseen beneath bodycon styles.
It’s what’s underneath that counts.
