First up, the aforementioned sloungewear. You guessed it – loungewear meets sportswear. Look out for minimalist silhouettes, relaxed fits and chunky knit fabric that make comfort premium. Unnecessary embellishment is stripped here, with the emphasis instead placed on exquisite cuts and soft-hand feels. Elsewhere, urban street evolves from SS16, with a subversive cool attitude playing on proportion in a ‘goth’ monochrome palette. Check out Banana Republic on EyeFitU for affordable pieces that tick all the boxes of the urban street trend.
Mirroring the AW16 men’s catwalk trends, oversized and enlarged silhouettes fuse active and streetwear styling; try our exaggerated cocoon shapes and elongated sleeves. The maxi puffa is a key item deriving from this theme. Embrace its resurgence with an A-line silhouette and fastenings across the chest. Likewise, the bomber jacket is seen oversized and cocoon-like, with an exaggerated shoulder curve to enhance the look. Keep it sporty with high-shine technical wovens that are both printed and plain.
We’ve noted 6 winning colours across athleisure styles so listen up. A gently weathered shade of olive green is popular. The washed-out khaki-pine hue conveys subtle urban street messaging with military undertones. Wear it head-to-toe, as seen at Yeezy, or go for a relaxed look by layering with black and denim. Also gathering momentum is a blush shade seen head-to-toe on luxury fabrics. Supporting the new sloungewear silhouettes, it’s seen in both matte and shine finishes. Tones range from nude to a soft chalky pink and add a rich softness to pared-back silhouettes for a feminine, sophisticated look. Another colour we’re loving head-to-toe is winter white that gives a crisp, futuristic tone. The catwalks saw this essential tone as a way to create transitional streetwear styles. Next, the perennially important activewear shade, athletic blue, featured in hues from vivid electric blue to deeper royal blue. Bright reds also emerged from scarlet to letterbox red, which are sexy and dramatic when spliced with black and white. The saturated reds create a sense of feminine power on streetwear styles. Last but not least, blazing yellow packed a punch on the athleisure themed catwalks. Bringing a vibrant mood, the intense yellow shades ranged from buttercup to sulphuric and work well colour blocked with electric blue or bright white for impact.

Aside from bold colour, the feminine floral print works well on activewear, contrasting the sporty shapes and clean lines. EyeFitU’s top brands for athleisure pieces right now, Ted Baker and Tommy Hilfiger, both present beautiful, flower-adorned activewear this season. A standout piece for us is the deep navy, digital floral print T-shirt in soft cotton by Ted Baker. You can snap it up on the app today and wear with skinny jeans and trainers or a formal jogger.
If there’s one thing you should invest in when it comes to the athleisure aesthetic, it’s the active crop. Choose your favourite from River Island on EyeFitU today. Tapping into the increasingly important Fitness Millenials market, the crop works best paired with tailored trousers and jackets for contrast. Tap into two trends in one with a slogan crop. Building on the new wave of straight-talking fitspo slogans, lettering and strong statements add to the sporty feel of this piece.
Shop your size in Adidas and Nike on EyeFitU too. Trust us, it’s more fun than the gym!
